There are many things you need to know about Borobudur, about the history, the structure, etc. So, when you visit Borobudur, it is better for you to hire a tour guide. Your tour guide will explain you about the temple in detail and he will lead you to get the impressing spots of Borobudur for taking pictures. Besides, you can ask your tour guide about more information you want to know.
Wear appropriate clothes
The weather in Borobudur is quite hot at the afternoon. You should wear appropriate clothes to keep you feel comfortable. You can wear clothes made from cotton or something that can reduce the heat. You can also bring your own hat and umbrella to keep you from the sun light or you can rent them. But if you visit in the morning, it will be a good idea to wear jacket because the weather around the temple is cold.


Do not wear high heels!
Since you need to climb the stairs of Borobudur to reach the top, it is not appropriate to wear high heels. You’d better to wear flat shoes or flat sandals.
 Follow the instruction
You are required to wear batik sarong before entering the temple area. It is as the identity that you are legal visitor. This is also a way to introduce batik to the visitors that batik is one of Indonesia's heritages that has been registered and recognized by UNESCO. After finishing your trip around the temple, you have to return the sarong.


There are many instructions when you walk around Borobudur. You may not sit on top of a stupa because stupa has philosophical respective for certain people. Besides, climb up a stupa and relief or sculpture is very dangerous. Other instructions are do not littering, Smoking, carrying food, carrying animals and do not doodling on the temple

The Best Time to visit Borobudur
Borobudur’s business opening hours is at 06: 00 am until 05: 00 pm. You’d better to come on May, June, July and August. For these months the weather is sunny and the air tends not too hot and not too cold. If you visit On May, you can enjoy Vesak festival. Vesak is moonlight (full sidhi), a culture to mark three important events for Buddha. They are the birth of Prince Siddhartha in Lumbini in 623 BC, Prince Siddharta Supreme Enlightenment and became the Buddha in the Buddha-Gaya (Bodhgaya) at age 35 in 588 BC, Gautama Buddha parinibbana in Kusinárá at the age of 80 in 543 BC. This festival is held every year on May. There you can find puppets festival, release lampion and many other performances that very interesting to watch.
